Diode Pumped Laser: The Technical Revolution

The great qualitative and technical advantages offered by laser marking to all the sectors of industrial production are now well known to everyone. The trend to use this technology is far from the saturation point; with the distribution of technological know how, new solutions are being continuously experimented even with applications that traditionally belonged to other technologies. Currently, after 12 years of laser history in the industrial field, Laservall has the pleasure to present the state of the art of the world-wide technology in the form of laser systems: our Solid State Laser Marking Systems based on the Laser Diodes technology.
In our new “Violino™" series of marking systems, the lamp has been replaced by a laser diode that represents excitation source. The good new is that the optical excitation efficiency is in fact 30 to 50% (against the 2 to 3% typical of lamp pumped lasers). This is the reason why our “Violino™" laser sources consume only a few hundreds watt of electrical power and don't require water chillers.
The size of the laser sources, including the power supply unit, may be no more than that of a briefcase and, above all, the average life-time of a laser diode module is currently 10/15000 hours with the trend to increase as technology becomes more advanced. The power currently available provides excellent results in engraving codes and logos on any type of surface. The beam quality in these systems finally reaches the theoretical diffraction limit providing high level precision markings, with a maximum resolution of 100 dots per millimeter.

The amazing reduction in size gives to the plant designer great freedom in upgrading of existing lines or for studying new solutions on automatic lines, that so far have caused problems due to the size of the conventional sources.
